Why getting to Zero carbon emission matter?

Every year World adds 51 billion tons of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. These greenhouse gases trap the heat & are making the earth's average temperature rise.

Warmer earth is enhancing the number of natural disasters happening all around the world. Days are getting hotter, frequent droughts, floods, hurricanes are happening. Wildfires, rising sea level, decrease in food production, heatwaves, etc. We can’t say Climate Change is only responsible for this. But because of climate change, such things are happening more often, & it will only keep increasing.

Climate disasters can be 10 times worst than the COVID19 pandemic. We can see what this pandemic did. Lose of millions of lives, people stuck in the home.

So What’s the solution?

We need to get to Zero greenhouse gases emission asap. 90% reduction will not save us nor 95%. Why?

Let's understand this by analogy that I borrowed from Bill Gates. Climate is like a bathtub, that’s slowly filling up with water. Even if we slow the flow of water to a trickle, the tub will eventually fill up & water will come spilling out onto the floor. That’s the disaster we have to prevent. Setting a goal to only reduce our emissions but not eliminate them won’t do it. the only sensible goal is zero.
